About the Project
The Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Tourism Development project aims to position Albania’s tourism industry as a force for environmental conservation. The initiative focuses on mainstreaming biodiversity considerations into tourism planning, ensuring coastal Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) remain protected while fostering economic opportunities.
The project targets six coastal Key Biodiversity Areas (161,838 hectares), emphasizing sustainable tourism planning, private sector engagement, and multi-stakeholder coordination. By working closely with governmental bodies, private enterprises, and local communities, this project promotes biodiversity-friendly tourism standards and strengthens environmental monitoring systems.

Job Responsibilities
As the Project Coordinator, you will oversee project execution, ensuring alignment with UNDP’s sustainability goals and Albania’s environmental commitments. Your responsibilities include:
📌 Project Planning & Execution: Lead project activities, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of outputs.
📌 Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with government institutions, private sector players, and local communities to drive biodiversity-friendly tourism initiatives.
📌 Budget & Resource Management: Oversee project finances, ensuring efficient use of allocated resources.
📌 Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all project activities align with UNDP regulations and environmental policies.

Who Can Apply?
The ideal candidate for this position should possess:
✔ Education: Master’s degree in Earth Sciences, Natural Sciences, Economics, or related fields. A Bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant experience is also acceptable.
✔ Experience: At least two years of experience in project coordination and planning (if applying with a Bachelor’s degree).
✔ Key Skills:
- Strong project management and analytical skills.
- Experience in environmental policy, biodiversity conservation, or sustainable tourism.
- Ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies and private sector partners.

✔ Languages: Fluency in English is required.
