1. Development & Outreach Department Intern – Tokyo, Japan
- Application Deadline: 12 March 2025
- Location: Tokyo, Japan
- Internship Duration: April 2025 – September 2025 (part-time, flexible hours)
Responsibilities:
- Assist with fundraising, donor engagement, and event management.
- Conduct prospect research and contribute to marketing materials.
- Assist with database management and event logistics.
- Participate in in-house trainings, donor events, and networking sessions.
- Other projects based on student interests and department needs.
Qualifications:
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student during the internship term.
- Strong organizational, self-motivation, and attention to detail skills.
- Interest in human rights and experience in event planning, communications, or fundraising is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet research.
- Advanced level proficiency in Japanese and English (written and spoken) is highly desirable.
- Must have valid work authorization in Japan for the duration of the internship.
Compensation:
- 800 yen per day for lunch expenses (if working in the office).
- Up to 2000 yen per day for transportation reimbursement.
- Academic credit may be arranged depending on institutional requirements.

2. Asia Division Intern – Tokyo, Japan

Responsibilities:
- Assist with research on domestic and international human rights issues related to Japan.
- Support advocacy efforts, data analysis, and desk research.
- Attend external meetings with Asia division staff.
- Participate in lectures, professional development workshops, and networking events.
Qualifications:
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student during the internship term.
- Strong research, writing, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated interest in human rights, advocacy, and international affairs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
- Advanced level proficiency in Japanese and English is highly desirable.

3. Development & Outreach and Advocacy Department Intern – Stockholm, Sweden

- Location: Stockholm, Sweden
- Internship Duration: September 2025 – February 2026 (full-time, 35 hours per week)
- Compensation: Unpaid (must be enrolled in a university program for full duration)
Responsibilities:
- Monitor global developments and support HRW’s advocacy efforts.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and evaluating events.
- Participate in briefings with decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Support fundraising efforts by researching potential donors and corporate partners.
- Help create targeted communications for decision-makers and the general public.
- Contribute to HRW Sweden’s digital content, including social media and newsletters.
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a university program for the full duration of the internship.
- Preferred coursework in communications, media, political science, law, or human rights.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in both Swedish and English.
- Interest in human rights, social media, and fundraising.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) is highly valuable.
