About the Role: Associate Vice President, Resilient Futures

Location: Atlanta, GA (Other possible location: Washington, DC)

Salary Range: $157,342.07 – $230,562.22 Annually (Based on experience and location)

Expected Travel: Up to 30%

Your Mission as Associate Vice President, Resilient Futures

As an Associate Vice President at CARE, you will be responsible for driving innovative and scalable resilience solutions to address pressing global issues. Your leadership will focus on leveraging public and private partnerships, strategic donor engagement, and cutting-edge resilience solutions to uplift communities facing adversity. You will collaborate with key stakeholders across multiple sectors, including governments, NGOs, and corporate partners, to drive long-term, sustainable impact.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead Technical and Thought Leadership in Resilience

Establish CARE as a global thought leader in resilience-focused initiatives.
Represent CARE at high-profile global conferences, forums, and strategic partnerships.
Drive research, innovation, and advocacy efforts that advance the resilience agenda.

2. Design and Implement CARE’s Resilience Growth Strategy

Develop and implement a Resilient Futures strategy, identifying key innovations and models for scaling.
Work with the Program Strategy & Innovation (PSI) team, fundraising teams, and country offices to drive impactful solutions.
Enhance CARE’s influence in the resilience, gender, health, and education sectors.

3. Strengthen and Expand Strategic Partnerships

Forge strong relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, corporate donors, and public funders.
Drive CARE’s positioning in key resilience-focused funding channels.
Develop new funding mechanisms that enable CARE to expand its global reach.

4. Drive Fundraising and Resource Mobilization

Lead the creation of compelling investment cases and donor engagement strategies.
Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop customized funding proposals.
Leverage CARE’s existing models and innovations to secure new funding streams.

5. Build Cross-Sectoral Resilience Solutions

Work with key partners to develop and implement data-driven, locally-led resilience programs.
Advance climate adaptation strategies, food security programs, and economic empowerment initiatives.
Scale innovative finance mechanisms, such as payment-for-services models.

6. Support Internal Leadership and Team Development

Manage and mentor the Resilient Futures team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Work cross-functionally with CARE’s technical teams, global program staff, and country directors.
Ensure that CARE’s resilience strategies align with global development goals and donor expectations.

Your Profile: What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications:

At least 15 years of experience in resilience-focused roles with proven results.
Strong expertise in climate adaptation, gender-responsive solutions, and disaster risk reduction.
A deep understanding of funding landscapes, including private sector investments, philanthropic funding, and government grants.
Demonstrated ability to build and strengthen networks with policymakers, corporations, and NGOs.
Strong public speaking and communication skills, with experience in media appearances, conference presentations, and thought leadership.
Advanced editorial and writing skills to create high-impact reports, policy briefs, and donor communications.
Experience working with locally-led organizations and ensuring inclusive, community-driven solutions.
Knowledge of US funding markets, corporate engagement strategies, and sustainable finance solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

A degree or advanced education in international development, resilience studies, environmental science, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of global South innovation models and successful case studies of scalable resilience programs.
Experience leading large-scale, cross-border development initiatives.
