Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development and Implementation:
- Lead and implement regional and national projects supporting private sector engagement in disaster management.
- Develop capacity-building activities for existing and potential CBi Member Networks.
- Collect and analyze information on private sector involvement in disaster risk management.
- Coordination during Emergencies:
- Deploy to disaster-affected areas to coordinate private sector contributions.
- Partnerships and Advocacy:
- Coordinate with UNDP, OCHA, government entities, and other partners on private sector engagement.
- Advocate for private sector involvement in disaster management and humanitarian programming.
- Strategy and Operational Support:
- Develop case studies and share good practices.
- Ensure timely documentation, monitoring, and reporting of CBi activities.
- Support periodic reporting requirements for UNDP and OCHA.
- Additional Duties:
- Perform other tasks as required for the efficient functioning of the Office and Organization.
Institutional Arrangement:
The role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, under the supervision of the CBi Deputy Programme Coordinator with secondary reporting to the OCHA Regional Office for Southern and Eastern Africa (ROSEA). An annual work plan will be developed in collaboration with both entities.

Desired Additional Skills and Competencies:
- Experience with UN-private sector engagement.
- Experience in emergency settings.
- Previous work with a private sector entity or within the UN system.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Education: Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in relevant fields or a Bachelor’s degree with additional qualifying experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years (with Master’s) or 7 years (with Bachelor’s) in disaster risk reduction/management, humanitarian affairs, or international development, preferably in Southern and Eastern Africa.
- Skills: Experience in disaster risk reduction/management, report writing, and policy guidance.
- Language: Fluency in English required; knowledge of another UN language is a plus.
Travel:
Frequent travel will be required to support CBi Member Networks and humanitarian operations.
