Job Title: Social Media Intern, Health Director’s Office, Programme Group
Location: New York HQ, United States
Duration: 21 weeks
Position Type: Internship
Role Overview
Under the primary supervision of the Senior Advisor Partnerships, the Social Media Intern will support the Global Health Team in developing and implementing an integrated social media communication strategy and related content. This role is crucial in promoting UNICEF’s global health priorities and ensuring that our social media presence effectively supports our mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation and Management:
- Plan, create, and curate social media content daily.
- Maintain and update weekly editorial calendars.
- Collect and collate multimedia information from various departments.
- Create visuals, quote cards, and other materials using online tools such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop.
- Draft and post content for Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Monitor social media trends and suggest retweets/reposts from partners.
- Event and Media Coverage:
- Attend press conferences and events to gather quotes, photos, and videos for social media posts.
- Support special events as needed.
- Research and Strategy:
- Research trends and latest social media developments related to child, adolescent, and maternal health.
- Research iconography and concepts for campaigns.
- Assist in responding to day-to-day requests for social media content.
- Community Engagement:
- Monitor social media accounts for follower comments and questions.
- Provide responses to inquiries and engage with the community.
Qualifications
Education:
- Enrolled in or completed within the past 2 years a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) in Public Health, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field.
Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its ideals.
- Ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required; knowledge of French is desirable.
