INFORMATION SYSTEMS ASSISTANT
The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) is dedicated to providing critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information, and Telecommunications Technologies services and training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political missions, and other UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes globally. This position is located in the Digital Solutions Support Unit (DSSU) within the Office of the Chief (OOC) of the Service for Geospatial, Information Technology, and Telecommunication (SGITT) at the UNGSC in Brindisi, Italy. The incumbent will report directly to the Chief DSSU.

Responsibilities
Under delegated authority, the Information Systems Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in collecting and analyzing data, preparing data presentations, and generating reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning, and decision-making.
- Information Management: Assist with the visualization and updating of information materials, including web pages and brochures.
- User Requests: Act as the focal point for receiving and processing user requests.
- Application Support: Assist with application development and support cloud-based container platforms, such as Azure or Cloud-based Printing solutions.
- Technical Support: Provide basic technical support for relevant hardware and software systems applications.
- Installation and Maintenance: Install application systems software and hardware according to specifications. Provide basic support in planning, specifying, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining customized application software systems. Work with senior IT staff on defining requirements, building, testing, and modifying prototype software.
- Documentation and Training: Assist in creating and maintaining application software within Microsoft Applications and other web-based architectures. Prepare technical and user documentation and production of training materials.
- Software Support: Provide support for software development, including security, data integrity, and recovery. Assist with needs assessment for new systems, modifications to existing systems, and perform ongoing reviews with users and developers.
- Research and Evaluation: Conduct research on new technologies as requested, keep abreast of developments in the field, and assist in testing and evaluating new products and technologies.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties as required.

Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

- ITIL4 Foundation

- Microsoft Solutions Associate
- Degree or non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science
Work Experience
- Minimum Experience: 5 years of progressively responsible experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration, and maintenance is required. This requirement is reduced to 3 years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher.
- Desirable Experience: Experience in data analytics or related areas.

Languages
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. French is a working language of the UN Secretariat and knowledge of French is an advantage.

- Recruitment for this position is done on a local basis. The position is open for an initial period of one year with the possibility of extension, subject to the availability of funds.
- This position is subject to local recruitment according to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. General Service staff are recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office. Local recruits are not eligible for allowances or benefits exclusive to international recruitment.
