Organizational Context
The internship position is within the Peace and Security Hub of the UNSSC. The intern will work on projects related to Children and Armed Conflict, Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus, and Peacekeeping-Intelligence. The intern will collaborate with UN partners to develop initiatives for knowledge sharing and capacity building in various thematic areas.
Description of Duties
Under the direct supervision of the Learning Portfolio Manager, the intern will:
- Support the development of HDP Nexus and PKI Articulate Rise modules.
- Maintain and develop the HDP Nexus, CAAC, and PKI Moodle platforms.
- Contribute to communications efforts, including drafting information pieces and correspondence.
- Assist with administrative tasks, internal discussions, meetings, note-taking, and report writing.
- Provide technical support for e-learning development, including benchmarking, research, editing digital assets, and quality control of multimedia resources.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Skills
Education:
- Currently enrolled in or having completed a university degree in International Relations, Political Science, Human Rights, Social Science, or a related field.
Experience:
- No previous work experience required.
- Experience with e-learning platforms and programs is an asset.
Language Competencies:
- Fluency (written and oral) in English.

- Knowledge of online learning and social media tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet browsers, and online platforms.
- Knowledge of Articulate Rise and/or the Adobe suite is an asset.

- Effective teamwork skills.
- High motivation and a desire to learn and grow professionally.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and social media tools.

Important Information
- Interns are responsible for making travel and accommodation arrangements and obtaining necessary visas.
- Interns must ensure they have all prescribed vaccinations for travel to Italy and obtain medical insurance coverage.
- Interns shall provide UNSSC with a self-certification of good health before the assignment.
Selection and Commencement
- Candidates for the Internship Programme are selected on a competitive basis.
- Short-listed candidates will be interviewed and informed of the selection process results.
Completion of the Programme
- A written evaluation of the intern’s performance will be prepared.
- A meeting will be organized to provide feedback.
- Upon completion, the intern will receive a certificate of attendance.
Financial Aspects
- Interns who are not financially supported by other institutions shall receive a stipend of 450€ per month from UNSSC.
Further Career Opportunities
- Interns shall not be considered as staff members of UNSSC and will not accrue benefits.
- Internships do not carry the expectation of conversion to other contracts or appointments.
- Interns may not apply for or be appointed to positions in the Professional or above categories during the internship and for six months immediately following its expiration.
