Organizational Context

Global hunger has reached alarming levels, and WFP is committed to addressing this crisis. To enhance efficiency, WFP is relocating key procurement and supply chain functions to the UAE, establishing a Global Supply Chain Support Center in Dubai. This center includes six national Emirati positions under WFP’s Humanitarian Leaders Programme, which aims to nurture young Emirati talent and develop future humanitarian leaders.

Job Purpose

The Communication and Media Outreach Analyst will support the development and implementation of the communication strategy for the Global Supply Chain Support Centre. The role involves delivering a range of communication activities, conducting research and analysis, and effectively prioritizing communication tasks while operating with minimal supervision.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Global Humanitarian Response Centre.
  2. Tailor communication plans to promote the Centre’s mission of supporting WFP’s and partners’ humanitarian responses, ensuring alignment with WFP’s broader communication and fundraising strategies.
  3. Create compelling communication content that showcases the Centre’s critical role in global humanitarian response and its innovative approaches, highlighting success stories, partnerships, and impact achieved.

  1. Monitor and analyse traditional and social media to inform the development and/or evaluation of communication activities and strategies.
  2. Ensure effective dissemination of content through various channels including traditional media, social media platforms, newsletters, and targeted outreach to stakeholders.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and international media outlets to secure accurate and positive coverage of the Centre’s activities.
  4. Support with the preparation of interviews, talking points, and press briefings to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational goals.
  5. Assist in coordinating media visits, press conferences, and other events to showcase the Centre’s initiatives and achievements.
  6. Collate communication and media outreach data and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reports.
  7. Perform other duties as required to support WFP’s objectives.

Position Requirements

  • Education: University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Language: Proficiency in Arabic and English.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-year post-graduate experience, ideally in communication, public relations, or journalism.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, knowledge of graphic design and video editing software (an advantage), commitment to humanitarian goals, readiness to travel across GCC and WFP operational locations, excellent people skills, ability to thrive in multicultural environments, analytical thinking, and innovation.
