Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
Planning, Design, and Execution of Communication Strategies:
- Conduct communication needs assessments for projects, programmes, and corporate initiatives.
- Contribute to the office communication strategy aligned with UNDP’s External Communication Action Plan.
- Integrate communication needs into UNDP programmes and projects during their formulation.
- Draft stories for local media to increase understanding of UNDP’s work.
- Prepare and quality-assure media advisories and press releases in English and local languages.
- Coordinate and oversee the planning and execution of communications events.
- Maintain partnerships with media representatives and ensure compliance with donor visibility guidelines.
- Monitor media and inform staff on issues relevant to UNDP and donors.
- Develop Terms of Reference for communications needs (e.g., photographers, videographers).
- Ensure compliance with contract conditions and manage contracts of communications suppliers and consultants.
Communication Products and Publications:
- Manage the production of communication materials like articles, media releases, scripts, speeches, and blogs.
- Maintain contact with communications suppliers to ensure high-quality production.
- Provide technical support for digital communications, including social media, websites, intranet, and web-based knowledge management systems.
- Regularly update digital channels with posts and manage content for social media.
- Design digital content and prepare information for web and social media updates.
- Support embedding digital strategies in UNDP’s programming.

Campaigns and Public Information:
- Promote and disseminate corporate advocacy materials for flagship initiatives and publications.
- Maintain public information campaigns on UNDP activities, Sustainable Development Goals, and UN Reform.
- Prepare and disseminate newsletters and updates to donors and stakeholders.
- Develop and produce other communication and advocacy materials for campaigns.
- Implement disability-inclusive communications across programmes and projects.
Knowledge Management and Dissemination:
- Identify and synthesize best practices and lessons learned.
- Contribute to knowledge networks and corporate communications repositories.
- Provide training for UNDP staff on knowledge management.
- Perform other duties as necessary for the office and organization.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Master’s Degree: Communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree: In the same areas with an additional two years of experience.
Experience:
- Master’s Degree Holders: Up to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree Holders: 2 years of relevant experience.
Languages:
- Fluency in English, Turkish, and/or Greek.
Desired Skills:
- Additional relevant experience.
- Familiarity with multicultural working environments.
- Experience in peacebuilding/confidence-building projects.
- Knowledge of the Cyprus context.
- Experience working with government institutions, NGOs, civil society organizations, and international organizations.
