As the Information Advisor, you will be based within the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Port Sudan, reporting to the Head of Programme at UNOPS ETMCO. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate informed decision-making and system-wide conflict analysis by providing timely, accurate, and insightful analysis.

Join UNOPS in Port Sudan, Sudan, as an Information Advisor and contribute to enhancing early warning, analysis, and situational awareness in Sudan’s dynamic political, economic, and security landscape. This role is pivotal in supporting the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) through comprehensive information management and strategic insights.
Responsibilities
Security Strategy Development, Implementation, and Advisory:
- Conduct research and analysis on relevant developments/events impacting the UNCT.
- Utilize diverse sources including UN agencies, national authorities, NGOs, media, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and apply effective information analysis tools.
Technical Support to Operations:
- Forge strong relationships with UNCT members, information management networks, and external actors.
- Establish an Analysis Working Group within the RCO to develop joint analytical products.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, supporting data-driven insights.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Produce integrated analysis, assessments, and maps to inform conflict-sensitive decision-making.
- Assist in maintaining the Common Country Analysis and other RCO products.
- Ensure information security and effective dissemination of reports.
Training, Awareness, and Knowledge Sharing:
- Deliver briefings to UNCT, Security Management Team, Humanitarian Country Team, and senior UN staff.
- Support the maintenance of risk registers in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Team Management:
- Assist in supervising and managing an integrated analysis, risk management, and peacebuilding team.
- Contribute to staff development, training, and performance evaluation.

Requirements
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Security, or related field. A first-level degree with additional qualifying experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in intelligence or information analysis, political science, international relations, security, or related fields.
- At least two (2) years of experience in team supervision or management.
- Experience in developing and maintaining information collection plans is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Sudan or neighboring countries is beneficial.
- Experience in an integrated civilian-military-police environment is an asset.
Languages:
- Fluency in English (oral, reading, and writing) is required.
- Proficiency in an additional UN official language is desirable.
