Duties and Responsibilities
1. Knowledge and Data Analysis Support
- Assist the Digital Democracy Project’s Data Scientist in gathering, analyzing, and visualizing data related to policy experiments on online harms and information integrity.
- Support the completion of Digital Readiness Assessments in Fiji and FSM, including data gathering and drafting.
2. Communications Support
- Draft blog posts, press releases, and other key knowledge products.
- Synthesize research findings for public consumption and relay them to stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing speaking notes for project activities, including the Project’s final summit.

3. Project and Programme Support
- Prepare for CSO-government Technical Working Groups.
- Aid in drafting Concept Notes for new projects alongside project staff.
- Support project staff in monitoring, evaluation, and learning, particularly for the Project’s final report.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree; or currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; or graduated within the last year from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.
Field of Study:
- Candidates from all academic backgrounds are welcome.
- Priority given to those with backgrounds in social science, law, political science, international studies, public policy, or data science, ICT, computer science, software development, or related disciplines.
IT/Research Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
- Familiarity with statistical software/programming languages (e.g., SPSS, R, Python) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is advantageous.
- Thorough knowledge of social science research methods is a plus.
Language Skills:
- Fluency in English required.
- Knowledge of other UN languages or i-taukei language or Hindi is an advantage.
Other Competencies:
- Familiarity with the socio-political context of the Pacific region is advantageous.
- Experience with digital tools and platforms preferred.
- Interest in gender issues, digital governance, democracy projects, or related fields desirable.
- Strong analytical and data gathering skills.
- Effective communicator and team player.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
Internship Conditions
- Stipend provided in accordance with UNDP Internship policy.
- Interns are responsible for all expenses related to the internship.
- Must be a citizen of Fiji and reside in Fiji during the internship period.
- Interns are not eligible to apply for or be appointed to any post in UNDP during the internship.
- Proof of enrolment in a health insurance plan required.
- Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP officially.
