JOB OVERVIEW:

Children’s Legal Services at IRC comprises five program areas: Know Your Rights and screenings for children in ORR custody; direct representation for children released from ORR custody; two-way, child-centered information services through IRC’s Signpost platform, ImportaMi; Play program; and remote initial legal services for detained and released children.

Data is crucial in supporting core staff functions across offices, including service provision, reporting, managing funder requests, staff supervision, and developing evidence-informed programming. The Data Coordinator will maintain data quality and integrity, ensuring timely collection and reporting to funders. The coordinator will also assist in training staff on new data requirements, configuring and testing system enhancements (e.g., Airtable and PowerBi), building queries and reports, and ensuring quality assurance to support service delivery for Children’s Legal Services.

The Data Coordinator reports to the Supervising Attorney for Remote Children’s Legal Services and the Senior Program Officer for ImportaMí and will work closely with the Director of Children’s Legal Services. This role supervises the Data and Reporting Specialist.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure timely and compliant data entry by the Data and Reporting Specialist.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for funders and internal use.
  • Input event data into spreadsheets and various reporting software.
  • Review data entered by team members to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Run data reports and ensure updates to the funder database.
  • Provide data and reporting support to Children’s Legal Services staff for various databases monthly.
  • Provide data visualization resources using tools like Power Bi to support Children’s Legal Services.
  • Develop a core, standardized system for data intake and entry, aligning with reporting needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality pursuant to legal ethics rules.
  • Coordinate with Director of Children’s Services, Managing Attorneys, Supervising Attorneys, and Senior Program Officer for ImportaMí to identify field-level reporting and tracking needs; provide technical assistance and training to meet program requirements.
  • Run reports to inform programming and quality assurance activities.
  • Engage with and support RAI’s Research, Analysis, and Learning team.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining systems to improve data reporting efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Social Sciences, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Over two years of experience with legal service case management, program management software, or other information systems for case/client management strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a non-profit or social service agency environment is helpful.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with Airtable, Power Bi, Lollylaw, and Acacia’s Unaccompanied Children’s data and referral bases (UCLS and UCORD) strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Adobe Acrobat, is required.
  • A flexible work attitude, with the ability to work independently, in a team environment, and meet unexpected demands.
  • Ability to effectively deliver remote technical assistance to a diverse and cross-cultural audience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills, with a proven track record of prioritizing projects with keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate as part of multiple teams.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, proactive problem-solving, and sound judgment.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English preferred (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Experience researching information online and through social media platforms and compiling relevant details for case files.
  • Capacity to be a strong team member in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Deep commitment to working with immigrants, children, and asylum seekers.
  • Personal integrity in handling ethically complex and confidential situations.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This is a remote position that can be performed from any of the 50 U.S. states.

COMPENSATION:

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates and are based on various factors, including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience, and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
