The Regional External Engagement Specialist is positioned in the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Office in Panama City, Panama. Reporting to the Resource Mobilization Advisor, with a dotted line to the Communications Advisor, the Specialist will integrate partnerships, resource mobilization, and communications to support UNFPA’s goals. Role and Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities
- Regional Plan Implementation: Develop and implement a regional plan integrating partnerships, resource mobilization, and communications.
- Strategic Opportunities: Identify opportunities, develop outreach plans, and build partnerships to mobilize resources from public and private sectors.
- Communications Collaboration: Draft communications products, including briefing materials, concept notes, talking points, newsletters, and social media posts.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Reach out to high-level supporters, collaborate on campaigns/events that align with UNFPA and influencer interests.
- Event Organization: Support organization of UNFPA events, including side events, field visits, panel discussions, and high-level conferences.
- Donor Visibility: Lead efforts to ensure donor visibility in events and communications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HQ and CO focal points for private/public sector engagement.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical support to COs on partnership strategies, action plans, data analysis, and reporting.
- Innovation Committee: Serve on the UNFPA regional Innovation Committee and the UN regional partnership/communications network.
- Performance Indicators: Participate in drafting, monitoring, and evaluating key performance indicators for resource mobilization, partnerships, and communications.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Required: Advanced university degree (master’s level or equivalent) in International Relations, Political Science, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

Experience
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience at the national or international level in development work, focusing on partnerships and resource mobilization.
- Donor Management: Experience in donor mapping, management, outreach, donor communications, reporting, and non-core resources income analysis.
- External Relations and Communications: Experience in external relations, communications, and/or campaigning.
- Multilateral or International Organization: Previous experience with such organizations is an asset.
Languages
- Required: Fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
- Desirable: Knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Portuguese.
