Key Functions and Accountabilities:
- Improving Data on Child Poverty & Vulnerability:
- Support the collection, analysis, and presentation of data on multidimensional and monetary child poverty.
- Strengthen national capacity for data collection, reporting, and use in policy decision-making.
- Provide data-driven analysis for effective prioritization and planning of social policy initiatives to reduce child poverty.
- Analyze the macroeconomic context and propose appropriate responses to social development issues affecting children.
- Strengthening Social Protection Coverage and Impact for Children:
- Support the development of social protection policies and programs to increase coverage and impact on children, especially the most marginalized.
- Promote integrated social protection systems and provide technical support to partners for program improvement.
- Conduct monitoring and research on social protection impact on child outcomes and use findings to strengthen program results.
- Improving Use of Public Financial Resources for Children:
- Conduct budget analysis to inform advocacy and technical assistance for equitable allocations for essential services for children.
- Support identification of policy options for improved domestic financing of child-sensitive social protection interventions.
- Build capacity of partners for improved monitoring and tracking of public expenditure to enhance transparency and accountability.
- Strengthening Capacity of Local Governments:
- Collaborate with central and local authorities to improve policies, planning, budgeting, consultation, and accountability processes for child-focused service delivery.
- Strengthen capacity on quality data collection, analysis, and monitoring of essential social services, with a focus on community participation and accountability.
- Advocacy and Partnerships for Child-Sensitive Social Policy:
- Support the use of data and evidence on the situation of children to advocate for child-focused services.
- Establish effective partnerships with government, donors, NGOs, civil society, and other UN agencies to support child rights and achieve global agendas.

To qualify as an advocate for every child and effectively manage UNICEF programmes, here are the requirements and core competencies expected:
Requirements:
- Education: An advanced university degree in Economics, Public Finance, Public Policy, Development Studies, Political Science, or another social science field is required.
- Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience is required. Experience working in a developing country is considered a strong asset. Background and/or familiarity with emergency situations is also considered advantageous.
- Language: Fluency in English and the local working language of the duty station is required.
