Org. Setting and Reporting:
The United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) was established in 2010 to enhance the interaction between the United Nations and the African Union. Its mandate includes strengthening the partnership in peace and security, providing coordinated advice, and improving the efficiency of UN operations in Addis Ababa. The position is situated in the General Services Unit of the Administrative Support Section of UNOAU, with the incumbent reporting to the Administrative Officer / Head of Administrative Support Section.
Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer (FS-6) will be responsible for:
- Drafting various complex logistics plans for the Office.
- Preparing mission-specific Standard Operating Procedures for review.
- Drafting budget requirements for the Office.
- Managing logistics operations, including assets, contracts, and personnel.
- Providing logistics support to ongoing operations.
- Ensuring gender-specific needs are met in logistics requirements.
- Participating in technical surveys and verification.
- Identifying requirements and managing special logistics operations.
- Keeping records of logistic activities and essential supplies.
- Coordinating logistics activities with other units.
- Overseeing supply chain operations, including transportation and procurement.
- Ensuring accurate accounting, reporting, and internal control systems.
- Coordinating logistics operations with other UN agencies and organizations.
- Monitoring staff training and performance.
- Collecting and analyzing data for decision-making.
- Coordinating property maintenance and safety measures.
- Monitoring logistics performance metrics and implementing improvements.
- Following up on vendors/contractors to ensure timely delivery.
- Planning and managing logistics schedules.
- Maintaining accurate records of inventory and transactions.
- Ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
Competencies:

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of degree or non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is desirable.
Job-Specific Qualifications:
- Professional certification in IPSAS is desirable.
- Local Process Expert (LPE) Certification in Umoja property management or equivalent is desirable.
- Completion of degree or non-degree programs in supply chain management is desirable.

Work Experience:
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in field logistics operations or related areas.
- Experience in data analytics, inventory accounting, and supply chain acquisition planning tools is desirable.
Languages:
- Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
