Duties and Responsibilities

Functions:

  1. Implement Financial Strategies:
    • Ensure full compliance with UN Women financial regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Review and verify financial transactions and documentation.
    • Monitor financial exceptions and investigate anomalies.
    • Draft financial reports and follow up on audit recommendations.
    • Provide advice on financial issues and recommend solutions.
    • Implement cost-saving strategies.
  2. Prepare and Administer Budgets:
    • Formulate, control, and monitor budgets.
    • Track financial resource usage and prepare cost recovery documents.
    • Manage financial control mechanisms and monitor expenditure.
    • Respond to and resolve financial data issues.
  3. Provide Financial Support to Programme and Operations Teams:
    • Review accounts receivables and follow up on contributions.
    • Verify and assist with vouchers for development projects.
    • Monitor budget setup and expenditure accuracy.
    • Follow up on advances to implementing partners and financial project closure.
    • Support donor financial reporting.
  4. Administrative Support to Resource Mobilization:
    • Compile and process donor information.
    • Draft cost-sharing agreements and follow up on contributions.
  5. Facilitate Knowledge Building and Sharing:
    • Conduct and organize training events.
    • Compile and disseminate lessons learned and best practices.
    • Contribute to financial business practices and management innovations.

Education and Certification:

  • Successful completion of the UN Women Accounting and Finance Test is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management and administration.
  • Proficiency in using office software packages and web-based management systems.
  • Experience with QUANTUM is an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and Turkish is required.
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
