Internship Office Background:
Economic growth in many Asian countries has led to significant reductions in poverty rates but also numerous human rights abuses along supply chains. UNDP’s Asia-Pacific Business and Human Rights Unit promotes the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), which outline the responsibilities of states and businesses to uphold human rights.
UNDP’s regional project, “Business and Human Rights in Asia: Promoting Responsible Business Practices through Regional Partnerships,” aims to strengthen the business and human rights agenda through awareness-raising, capacity building, and peer-learning among various stakeholders including governments, businesses, national human rights institutions, and civil society organizations. The project supports governments and businesses in promoting human rights policies, due diligence practices, and providing remedies for human rights abuses.
Duties and Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
- Project Implementation/Coordination and Technical Support (50%)
- Assist in project management and technical support.
- Help deliver project activities, such as multi-stakeholder events.
- Conduct research on business and human rights in Asia.
- Reporting and Data Collection Support (25%)
- Support data collection and reporting.
- Aid in knowledge management.
- Other Duties (25%)
- Assist with ad hoc activities as needed.
- Engage in B+HR Asia project activities based on personal interests and learning objectives.

Internship Conditions
- Stipend: THB 8,302.50 monthly.
- Expenses: Interns must cover all other costs, including accidents, illness, or death during the internship.
- Visa and Travel: Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel.
- Employment: Interns are ineligible for UNDP staff positions during the internship.
- Insurance: Proof of health insurance is required.
- Work Status: Interns are not staff members and cannot represent UNDP officially.
- Work Hours: Full-time commitment with flexibility for educational programs.
- Financing: Interns must secure their own funding for subsistence and arrange their travel, visa, accommodation, etc.
Required Skills and Experience
Educational Requirements: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree.
- Graduated no longer than one year ago from a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent studies.
Field of Study: International law, political science, international relations, global governance, business administration, business and human rights, responsible business, sustainability, or equivalent.
IT Skills:
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office productivity tools.
- Experience organizing meetings and webinars through Zoom is an advantage.
Language Skills:
- Proficiency in English is required.
- Knowledge of other UN or Asian languages is an advantage.
