Who We Are:
Due Diligence Analyst-The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, dedicated to saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability, and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change.
Organizational Context:
The Due Diligence Unit, part of WFP’s Legal Office at its headquarters in Rome, Italy, supports the implementation of WFP’s private sector partnerships and fundraising strategy. The Due Diligence Analyst will work remotely and report to a WFP Officer. The consultancy will last until 31 December 2024.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct research on prospective WFP private sector partners and donors, focusing on core UN values and principles concerning human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption.
- Identify practices and policies that may pose a reputational risk to WFP.
- Prepare reports presenting research findings in a neutral, accurate, and concise manner.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for WFP’s Private Donors and Partnerships Committee.
- Help develop and maintain reference materials and knowledge management tools.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent). A first-level degree with additional qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
Experience:
- At least two years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Awareness of issues relevant to corporate social responsibility.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills, preferably demonstrated through relevant work experience.
- Significant experience in conducting open-source and database research.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work under stringent deadlines.
- General knowledge of the United Nations system is an asset.
Languages:
- Fluency in oral and written English is required. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.
Assessment:
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise, which could be followed by a competency-based interview.
