About the European Climate Protection Initiative (EUKI)
The European Climate Protection Initiative (EUKI) is a funding instrument under the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). EUKI finances climate protection projects within the European Union to promote European integration through cross-border cooperation. The initiative empowers stakeholders in climate protection by enhancing technical, methodological, and commercial capabilities through the EUKI Academy. Additionally, EUKI facilitates learning exchanges and supports transformative processes in EU countries by forming targeted networks, thereby contributing to the EU’s climate goals. GIZ implements the EUKI funding program on behalf of BMWK.
Your Tasks
As an intern, you will engage in various activities, including:
- Conducting legal-commercial reviews of project sketches
- Preparing subsidy contracts and grant agreements
- Supporting and preparing commercial reporting to BMWK
- Advising funding recipients in German and English on commercial and financing requirements throughout the project cycle, from submission of project outlines and proposals to proof of appropriate use
- Preparing for controlling and monitoring financed projects and enhancing existing controlling instruments
- Organizing external audits of funded projects
- Preparing and implementing training measures for EUKI funding recipients in legal and commercial areas
- Maintaining the project database
Your Profile
To qualify for this internship, you should have:
- Studies in economics, law, business informatics, or comparable degrees
- Proficiency in modern IT systems, including databases and MS Office (especially Excel)
- Ideally, initial experience in controlling and commercial management of projects or public funding
- High performance and commitment, self-organization, flexibility, teamwork, and communication skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to work precisely
- Willingness and ability to quickly learn new areas and topics
- Fluent German and very good English skills
