The Opportunity:

The Education Project Officer role presents a unique opportunity to lead the coordination and implementation of the ECHO project, focused on improving access to learning opportunities and enhancing protection outcomes for children in targeted Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Borno state, Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality integrated education and child protection services, while also working to strengthen community-level mechanisms aimed at creating a safer environment for children.

As the Education Project Officer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing initiatives that address the multifaceted needs of children in conflict-affected areas. This includes developing strategies to promote inclusive and equitable access to education, as well as implementing measures to protect children from various forms of harm, including gender-based violence (GBV). Your expertise in integrated programming will be essential in ensuring that education and child protection interventions are seamlessly integrated to maximize impact and effectiveness.

About You:

Plan International is seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education, Social Science, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields, along with NYSC discharge or certificate of exemption. The preferred candidate should have at least three years of relevant working experience in Education in Emergency settings, as well as a good understanding of DO NO HARM principles and international child protection standards, especially UNCRC.

Experience with participatory approaches to education, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, or related areas is desirable. Strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently and under pressure, and excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential. Fluency in Kanuri is an added advantage.
