An exciting opportunity awaits for individuals with expertise in movement control and supply chain operations to join the United Nations Mission in Support of the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) in Sana’a, Yemen.

Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is nestled within the Supply Chain Management and Service Delivery Pillar of the UNMHA and the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY). As a Movement Control Officer, you will be stationed in Sana’a and report to the Chief Supply Chain Management and Service Delivery.

Responsibilities

As a Movement Control Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

Movement Control Duties:

  • Coordinating movement control office activities across the mission area.
  • Providing technical advice on transportation activities to mission elements.
  • Developing operational plans and performance reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality control procedures and data accuracy.
  • Managing movement control contracts and vendor performance evaluations.

Joint Movement Control Centre Duties/Passenger Booking Duties:

  • Monitoring passenger and cargo transportation requests.
  • Planning and scheduling passenger and cargo movements.
  • Coordinating transportation activities with relevant units and agencies.
  • Analyzing passenger and cargo flows to estimate resource needs.

Cargo Warehouse Duties:

  • Supervising cargo warehouse activities.
  • Overseeing the processing and preparation of cargo for transportation.
  • Ensuring proper labeling and coordination of cargo transportation.

Airfield/Air Terminal/Transport/Maritime Movement Control Office Duties:

  • Supervising movement control assistants and cargo handlers.
  • Overseeing passenger and cargo handling services.
  • Compiling passenger and cargo manifests.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety procedures during transportation operations.

Inbound Delivery Coordination Duties:

  • Coordinating inbound freight activities.
  • Liaising with vendors and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Tracking and tracing incoming shipments.
  • Identifying and resolving delivery issues.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and relevant certifications are necessary.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in movement control or transportation management, including supervisory roles, is required.
  • Experience in international operations in conflict or post-conflict environments is desirable.

Fluency in English (oral and written) is mandatory, while knowledge of Arabic is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise followed by an informal interview.
