Work Location
This full-time internship offers a hybrid/flexible work arrangement based in Bangkok, allowing interns to immerse themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of the region while contributing to meaningful projects.
Expected Duration
The internship duration spans three to six months, providing ample opportunity for interns to delve deep into the intricacies of economic affairs and make a tangible impact under the guidance of seasoned professionals within the Energy Division.
Duties and Responsibilities
As an intern with the Energy Division, you will be entrusted with a diverse array of responsibilities, including:
- Conducting comprehensive research and analysis on key energy challenges and solutions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on SDG7 targets.
- Exploring best practices in energy financing, pricing, taxation, and subsidies to promote energy affordability and sustainability.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of the Regional Road Map on Power System Connectivity, aimed at fostering cross-border electricity connectivity for sustainable development.
- Contributing to energy modeling at the country level, analyzing national energy policies, and assessing the socio-economic impacts of energy access and clean cooking initiatives.
- Investigating the role of natural gas in achieving SDG7 and examining the socio-economic and environmental implications of projected natural gas demand growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Researching the impact of the energy transition on various industries, including the extractives sector, and exploring strategies for sustainable cooling to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
Qualifications and Special Skills
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or higher).
- Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree).
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, while proficiency in an additional official UN language is advantageous.
Internship Details
Interns participating in this program are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs associated with travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
